While most student librarians find the tasks involved to be absolutely abhorrent, I find them to be absolutely calming. Secret: Cataloguing does not leave a room for imagination (everything is done according to the rules in AACR), but I find it be to be most liberating as I drown in something that is not of a personal nature — sort of like the sensations you have while reading, watching a film at a cinema or writing. When you are done, you are a different person.
